Most
likely you are here because your SMTP Log displayed the URL:
`See http://sandybeach.com/SBmail/smtpeof.htm.'
Where did this URL come from?
It was generated by SBmail,
an Internet message transfer agent (MTA).
Your mailer tried to send an E-mail message to a server running SBmail.
Unfortunately, the message was not properly terminated by
<CRLF>.<CRLF>
What is <CRLF>.<CRLF> anyway?
It is an ASCII carriage-return (CR) character followed by an ASCII linefeed
(LF) character followed by an ASCII period (. or dot) followed by an ASCII
carriage-return (CR) character followed by an ASCII linefeed (LF) character
Every Email message body must be terminated with
CR LF . CR LF
as described in RFC 821...
Since the mail data is sent on the transmission channel the end
of the mail data must be indicated so that the command and
reply dialog can be resumed. SMTP indicates the end of the
mail data by sending a line containing only a period.
While improperly terminated messages are recognized when the SBmail SMTP
connection is lost before seeing <CRLF>.<CRLF>,
the SMTP service cannot assume the message is complete, because;
- The connection may be lost before the message is complete.
- The SMTP service times out waiting for the end of message
and cannot be certain the message is complete.
In either case, your message cannot be delivered.
Corrective action
Make sure that your Auto-Responders, Java scripts and other
mail delivery agents properly terminate message bodies with
<CRLF>.<CRLF>
SandyBeach will be happy to assist you in solving mail delivery agent problems.
